Located at the gateway to Brookfield, the golf course at Westmoor Country Club is one to behold. Demanding enough to host numerous state championships, including the Wisconsin State Open and Amateur, the original course at Westmoor was always held in high regard. Two-time United States Open Champion Andy North and World Ranked Player Steve Stricker were unable to break par on their way to winning Wisconsin State Open Championships at Westmoor. World-renowned Golf Course Architect William Langford, a founding father of The American Society of Golf Course Architects and former United States Amateur champion did some of his finest work in renovating several holes at Westmoor in 1957. The changes seriously challenged the very best who play the game.
In the fall of 2008, the golf course underwent a major renovation with the goal of creating a common design theme throughout. Senior Architect Todd Quitno of Lohmann Golf Designs, Inc. built on the strengths of the fourth through eighth holes that were redesigned by Langford. Quitno integrated the features of a modern golf course while keeping the qualities of historical design alive. The massive cuts and fills bordering greens and fairway bunkers gently weave themselves into the surrounding terrain as though they have been there forever. These dramatic design features become clear with the breathtaking views from the Westmoor Clubhouse. The golf course provides its members a beautiful oasis within the confines of urban sprawl.
The 2008 renovation included the installation of a five tee system which makes the course inviting for players of all aptitudes. Hazards were repositioned to insure that distance and difficulty would not take away from the enjoyment of a casual game of golf. Quitno’s mission was to bring enjoyment and challenge to all levels of talent while fortifying the spirit of Langford. Golf Digest magazine says, “Quitno got it right.”
Additional golf amenities include a driving range and short game practice facility, a five hole par three “Little Links” course, and a 8,000 square foot practice putting green.
Come and enjoy the beauty and challenge of Westmoor Country Club.
